You probably have stumbled onto this blog by searching for error 128 in Google, Bing, or Yahoo. I did the same thing when I had the same error. I found no information. I did find a lot of wrong answers. I started this blog to help you. So here are the instructions that helped me. One thing to keep in mind. I have a Windows 7 machine. I do not know if it will work anything other systems or not. Shall we begin?
1. Go to Start then Accessories.
2. Right click Command Prompt. Choose Run as Administrator.
3. A black box will open up with a command prompt.
4. Type sfc/scannow.
5. Windows will go through and correct error. This may take a few minutes.
6. Once this is done you must restart the Background Intelligent Transfer Service.
7. Go Start and type SERVICES in the box at the bottom. This will find the Services tab in Windows. Go there.
8. Scroll down the list until you find Background Intelligent Transfer Service. Click restart on the left pane.
This will correct the error. You will now be able to download Windows updates. Good luck. This is a shameless plug, but if you found this helpful could you please click on one of my sponsors or make a donation?
